The Wild Ginger Inn building was originally designed as living quarters for sugar can plantation workers in the 1920's and transformed into an Inn in the 1950's.

The Wild Ginger Inn is located in Hilo city just off Hilo Bay and the Wailuku River.  The city of Hilo is on the wet, green lush of the island where most of the local hawaiian population live. Hilo is not your typical tourist location, but rather a travelers location where one looks for a place stay at reasonable price and to explore the island.  Being in Hilo is like living in the hawaiian past in the suburbs.  In fact most of the buildings, streets and roads haven't changed much since the 1950's.  This statement is also holds true for the Inn as well.
 
Come and experience Hawaii as a local and be apart of the Ohana (family).  We offer a chance to be close to nature while sleeping in a comfortable bed.  We provide either a private bedroom and bathroom as well as hostel rooms.

Turn RIGHT onto AIRPORT RD.
Turn RIGHT onto KANOELEHUA AVE / HAWAII BELT RD / HI-11 N.
Turn LEFT onto HAWAII BELT RD / KAMEHAMEHA AVE / HI-19.
Continue to follow KAMEHAMEHA AVE.
KAMEHAMEHA AVE becomes WAILUKU DR.
Turn RIGHT onto PUUEO ST.
